  1. When I play a VCD on my PC the quality is very good. But when a play on DVD the quality (resolution) is not so good. I burned in 352x240 NTSC .
Is this way to repair it ?

What is the correct resolution to capture video from VHS tape ?

  2. It's normally the other way around. A VCD on a computer monitor typically doesn't look as good (full screen) as on a TV (because computer monitors have higher resolutions).

However, the larger the TV screen size, the crappier the VCD looks. My VCDs look really good on my 27" set, but they look like sh*t on my 50" set. But I don't have any problem with that, the trade off is worth it - copy-able movies, in digital format, no more yucky video tapes.

The best resolution to capture at is DVD (720x480) and then convert down to 352x240. I get much better quality this way then if I do a direct capture @ 352x240. Also, set the motion setting in TMPGEnc to "Highest Quality" when you convert from DVD (MPG2) to VCD (MPG1) and you'll get better results, but it takes alot longer. And if you don't use TMPGEnc, you should.

But see for yourself, do a couple of 2 minute test captures at different resolutions and convert to VCD and you'll see.
