Philips 580m no sound any ideas

This is very strange and i hope someone out there will be able to help me, before i throw it away.


I put in a orignal DVD disc in my player(which i have watched loads of times)
There was back ground sound and noise however when the charactors started to speak there lips were moving and no sound was coming out(i have tried the disc in another machine and it worked fine) i have changed the scart lead, i have 5.1 surround sound and removed that and still it does not work, i have contacted philips and they were unable to help, I love the machine and would love to get it working again.

Have you tried any other discs? Do they work and not this one? If they all don't work, I suspect that you have a bad player.
