Black and white TV-output

i tried to connect my pc to one of my tv. The tv is a samsung manufactured in asia multiple system(PAL or NTSC). i got windows xp sp2 and a geforce fx5200 with s-video output. i was able to have a video output on my tv but it was black and white. i tried to change the configuration of my video card to NTSC to PAL and PAL to NTSC and tried every country standard (ex. South Korea NTSC) found in my video card setting but still black and white. any help?

does your television have an s-video input, or are you using an adaptor to connect the s-video cable to your television?

i've tried using adapters in the past with televisions that did not have s-video inputs and it would either not display a picture or display the image in black & white.

no the tv does not have a s-video input, im using a cable that has s-video on one side and rca on the other side (color red and black).the tv has only 1 rca video input

the way i did it was i hooked up an s-video cable to my video card (tv-out), and on the other end i hooked up a s-video-female-to-rca-male adapter..

no matter what i tried, i always got a black & white screen.

for some reason it just does not work..

you might try seeing if it's a tv problem or a computer problem by hooking up a dvd player with your s-video/rca cable and see if it will display correctly..

but to get to the point, this particular setup never worked for me.. but hooking up my PC video card to a tv with an s-video input worked just fine.

The cable that comes with the PC carries only s-video. What you are seeing only half the signal, as s-video breaks the signal down into two seperate parts. You either need to get an adapter or get a TV that takes s-video in (and probably an s-video - s-video cable), or forget running your PC through your TV.
