    i know there are firmwares available for these models, but it doesnt say what the firmware does, ie what it fixes etc, does anyone know....

    Panasonic is very closed with any firmware info. They wouldn't even tell me what media codes they support. FYI, I upgraded to the latest for the E50 and I have suffered no ill effects.

    I have found that the newer firmware accepts the higher speed DVD blanks. I had problems getting some to work with the old firmware, haven't had a problem since the update.
