  1. This don't really have anything to do with DVD's but i have a 27 inch Apex TV it's about 2 or 3 years old and the picture is getting smaller there is a half an inch of black space on the right side of the TV and on the left it's more than that. It's hard to explain theres a half of a inch black space then you see picture. I don't think there is any settings where you can move the picture do newer TV's have that, i know the old ones did.

  2. I think a hardware piece becomes defective. Probably the power supply of the screen

  3. Get some fan subbed anime. You'll be happy the TV doesn't overscan and you can see the subtitles!

  4. I first noticed it when it would cut my dvd menus off some. It does the same with text on the news it will cut a letter or two off. On my other TV you can see it just fine.

You guys think it's hardware? I new i should have never bought Apex TV.

If it is doing it for normal TV stations, then it is hardware, probably loosing the high voltage supply.

Would that cost much to fix?

Ask your local TV repair shop.

BTW: 2 or 3 years on a Apex is doing good if your read the Epinions site.
    Next time check user reviews.

  9. A shrinking picture could be dropping high voltage but I have also seen situations in which the deflection yoke comes loose and slides back on the CRT tube neck causing the same.

Do you see the test pattern that edDV uses below his handle? Test the TV with a pattern like that and see if it the circles distort or if they remain circles. Generally, circles remain circles if the problem is high voltage or yoke. If there is distortion, it may be a horizontal sweep related issue.
