First of all, am a Mac user, so i guess this question should go in the Mac forum, but since am a newbie, i'll post it here. (if this topic needs to be moved am ok with it)

Ok, i have an .abi file which has subtitles but i cannot see them. I use the VLC player, on the subtitles option, it says "track 1" i select it but the subtitles do not appear
On the other hand, the avi files does have subtitles, becasue a can see them on my pc, using the K-Lite codec pack and installing the following components:
    Other DirectShowFilters
    Matroska
    Matroska splitter (.mkv)
    Matroska muxer
    Directvobsub
    SHout cast Source
    (Maybe knowing that can help)

So, that proofs that the file does have subtitles, but what can i do to be able to see them on my mac?

    Thanks in advance!

Thanxs for the reply, but I have already tried mplayer, and I can't see the subtitles either!
Any other suggestions? Maybe telling me if I can do something with the codec configuration of the VLC (under preferences)...
    Thanxs!

Well under linix and windows mplayer will by default autoload subtitles.

Perhaps it is some kind of display issue since you say you can enable them in VLC, but not see them. I have no idea what output module is used on Mac's or anything like that. Maybe you should try the mac forum?

  6. In mplayer, press the letter S. At the top left, it will tell you if you do or do not have subtitles. If it says "Subtitles N/A" then there are none.
