  1. I mean once I author a VCD I want to burn it as ISO so I can make more copies later if I need to (CD gets scratched or so so I just burn another copy).

I am asking this as I would like to have a cd as a single file with .iso extension for generally all my CD-s that I want backed up as image. I would rather go with something standard as opposed to save them as .nrg extension (some of my older nrg images for example can't be extracted with IsoBuster but some can, something is different about these files that makes them *different* from standard so I just want to stick to ISO). I don't favor bin files as they have that cue file added. Just one file (ISO in this case) would be perfect if possible.

And as another question concerning the Philips VCD Toolkit; In order to burn a VCD with Audio tracks a utility called splitter.exe is needed.

cd-i.org website (or whatever it was) is not available anymore so is it possible to download this program from somewhere (presuming it's free).

You want to make a "Disc Image" file. You need to find a format that supports multiple tracks. Most standard ISO files are single tracks only, so many apps that support "ISO" do so with only single track capability. If you want just a single file, and you know BIN/CUE works, just put the bin/cue pair into a zip file for safe keeping.
I know what you're talking about with the NRG incompatibilites. Try this though--mount the NRG in DaemonTools, and open the mounted image in ISOBuster--that works! (Did it just a couple of days ago with a problem image).

There are other file formats-VCD, FCD, CCD, CDJ, CIF, etc. But BIN/CUE works great, is free and well supported.

I would like to add something here considering size limits.

I know from past vcd and svcd projects, that both are burned to the cd using mode 2 rather than mode 1. This allows up 800 MB to a 700 MB CD so if you're wanting to store the image as a data file on CD it may not fit if maxiumized your allowable space for s/vcd.

Unless you plan to burn these files to DVD then disregard this.
