  1. hi all i have three films i want to convert from ntsc 23***fps to pal 25***fps.
i didnt think i would have much of a problem as sound is already 48000mhz so just needed the frame rate changed but i tried the film machine and the sound was out of sync.
so i tried virtual dub to extract the audio to a wav file so i could extract the video as seperate files and try encoding that way after following a guide from here
    http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/sauron/CONVERTING%20PAGE%201.htm .
but that didnt work as the audio was warped and the video and audio length was out by 5 seconds so i tried another way again using a guide from here
    https://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm
but when i try this one i get this error NO AUDIO DECOMPRESSOR COULD BE FOUND TO DECOMPRESS THE SOURCE AUDIO FORMAT (SOURCE AUDIO TAG:2000)
can someone please help me out
    thankyou

Even if I've never tried myself, VSO DivXtoDVD is rumored to handle frame rate conversions gracefully.
But most PAL equipment have no problem with NTSC material, so you should try that route first.
But you haven't told us what you have and what you want, more that that you have some kind of video you want to play back with another frame rate. Is it AVI to DVD conversion involved, or what?

    Video : 449 MB, 716 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 352*240 (4:3), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5, Not checked

AC3filter should take care of VDubs audio problems, but first, I'd encode and author as NTSC DVD and try it out. Like I said, a vast majority of PAL TV/DVD handles NTSC without any problem.

  6. ok i tried couple programs to do a quick test with the avi file as i didnt want to spend hours doing a convert to find it had failed i tried just converting the avi file to dvd keeping it in ntsc format and also using vso divxto dvd to convert to pal the problem no matter what i use is this the video is out of sync with the sound the video is running at a normal rate but is faster then the audio it seems to start to go into sync after a few minutes or is not as bad that it is easily noticable.
anyone any ideas i just dont get it i have had movies go out of sync as the film goes on but never where it is out of sync at the begining and gets better

You may have changed the video framerate but you haven't changed the audio which will still be playing at 23 fps, you can change the audio rate with besweet, or you can do as i do and use DIKO(free) it will change audio and video framerates automatically and get rid of any jerky motion caused by playing ntsc on pal hardware, it also supports subtitle files.

    Hope this helps you, Peace.
