DVD to AVI with DD 5.1

I want to creat an AVI from a DVD with DD 5.1. I already have the DVD on my computer in VOB file, where do I go from here to make the AVI with AC3 (DD 5.1). A guide or a list of tools would be helpful. Please help!!!!!
