I have a series of Simpsons cartoons encoded with XviD (*cough*cough* from Robotolabs *cough*cough*), but they use Qpel so they don't play on my HD based external player (hooked to TV). I need to re-encode them to remove Qpel.
I have been re-encoding them using Dr.DivX, and have tried many, many, MANY different profiles, and still can't get decent results. I get an awful quality loss!
I know re-encoding XviD to DivX will always bring some quality loss, but the result I get are awful! I cannot seem to find the "magic" combination of right encoding parameters.
If anyone has encountered the same problem and found a great combination of encoding parameters, I'd be happy to learn about it.

The guides section has two guides that deal with removing QPEL, GMC etc etc.
You might want to re-read the forum rules though, since robotolabs is a torrent site and The Simpsons is definitely copyrighted material, being brought out on DVD (slowly, but surely). If in doubt, Google it.
