when i capture from my dv camera i get a bunch of small clips.is there any settings i can change to get just one big avi file? i cant find anything in the options tab to change this. thanks.

You probably have the capture utility set to create individual clips for each scene change. Check it and undo it. I prefer the individual clops myself.

Turn off scene change
DV metadata includes timecodes for when you started and stopped your camcorder. In that mode you divide clips by that data.
