  1. hi all

    I have 25 AVI files from a TV Series (approx 350mb each) and am trying to convert them into MPG files so that I can burn them onto DVD-R and watch them on my DVD player (it doesn't like AVI files). I've used AVI2DVD - set it to output in VCD format and in PAL format and it worked absolutely fine for the first 3 episodes. However, eps 4 and 5 are coming out incredibly jerky. I've tried also converting to NTSC but nothing seems to work - jerky results every time... Has anyone got any ideas on how to get round this, or had similar problems with this piece of software?

    cheers

    How could any one possibly gues what your problem is. It would be like saying 1-345 and 10 work but the others skip and jerk. The other what? In order to help we need complete and total descriptions of everything you did to obtain these AVIs., and remember, that the term AVI can mean all sorts of things.

  5. Well, excuse me, Mr Tool. My apologies to you as, I thought this was the "Newbie" section where admitted amateurs like myself could ask for help without being shouted down to by people with superiority complexes.

    Anyway, Baldrick, thanks for taking the time to reply and give me a starter. According to VideoInspector, it seems that all the files I've converted so far have had the following stats:

    Resolution = 624 x 352
    FPS = 23.98
    Quality Factor = 0.20 b/px
    Codec = XviD MPEG-4

    File 01 has a bitrate of 989 Kbps
    File 02 has a bitrate of 1039 Kbps
    File 03 has a bitrate of 1037 Kbps
    File 04 has a bitrate of 1015 Kbps
    File 05 has a bitrate of 1043 Kbps

    When encoding them in AVI2DVD, I am using the QuEnc encoder with the "Use hi quality" and "Use Trellis Quant" boxes ticked (i.e. the default selections).

    I figured my PC may have been having performance issues so I just retried converting File 01 and it, again, converted perfectly. I re-tried File 04 (that is seemingly in the same format) and, once again, got a horribly jerky output file. This is baffling me.. Got any other ideas?

    Cheers
