this weekend i saw that there was a pay per view boxing match going on.. jeff lacy was fighting some other guy.. it was a pay per view offered by showtime, the cost was $25 ($35 for HD), but you got it as a part of your regular programming if you were a showtime subscriber.. i believe the showtime package costs about $12 to order.. my question is, why would anyone order the pay per view? why not just order showtime for $12 and then cancel it afterwards, or after the month is over.. because if i understand correctly you dont get any kind of penalty for optional service cancellation..

you're not really "getting away" with anything..

it's not against the companies rules to subscribe to showtime for a month whenever you feel like it..

in fact, i had a friend who subscribed to showtime with directv a few years ago.. a few hours before the klitchko/lewis fight he called directv and cancelled his showtime subscription and went to HBO.. we watched the fight, the next morning he called directv back again, cancelled hbo & went back to showtime.. his bill was exactly the same, because they will only charge you if you "downgrade" your programming, but since he was "exchanging" it for something of equal value, it was just fine..

but i just wonder why anyone would buy a ppv that comes with premium channel programming.. especially when it's less than half the price, and you get more (not only the fight, but the rest of their lineup for a month).
