    You're gonna have to rip it no matter what, unless you hook your DVD player up to your DVD Recorder

    By "a certain part of", do you mean a full chapter ? or just a segment ?

    What do you intend to do with the finished segment ?

    There are screen capture softwares, such as camtasia, that can do that, but you're looking at a realtime capture, and the quality (from my experiences) wouldn't be as good. It would be much, much quicker to rip it, and you would be much, much better off quality-wise IMO.
