hi all i was wondering if anyone knows of a good forum or place to get information on peole making dvd's for sale. i made a dvd for a band with motion menus, extras, scene selection etcs, it actually lloks very professional and they are very happy with it. well they refered me to another band who wants something similar, but i dont know what something like that costs. they want to pay me for my work and i wouldnt mind the extra income. i just dont want to rip them off or be taken advantage either. i know that it wont be pressed dvd but it would be something they can make copies and pass out to their fans at other events. i cant find anything to guide me in fees others chard and for what time of work unless is a site youhave to pay to become a member. if anyone has ideas or info im sure others will also benefit from this information. thank youfor your time

Just charge them by the hour. No reason why they can't take your master and artwork and have them professionally replicated (pressed) either locally or OS if they need that many copies.
Hourly rate depends on where in the world you are (don't believe that you ever said) and should take into account time wastage if you don't think you are as efficent as you should be. -
thank you for the reply i am in the US. how do i know what people charge an our? or where can i find out

A rough guide:
In the UK, wedding videos are anywhere from GBP 1,000 - GBP 1,500 (as far as I know). This will get you a professional looking DVD covering the entire day, and maybe some additional stuff (bride and groom getting ready etc.).
Music videos? Maybe a bit less coz there's not as much to cover. You also have to factor in your time in terms of editing, encoding and authoring etc.
In Aus, wedding videos range from AUS$1,500 - AUS$3,000. Same deal as above.
Of course, the price in your area is dependent upon good old supply and demand...There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
