Hey folks, I have a really annoying problem, which looking at the archives, people keep asking about... so sorry in advance, but everything I read has not saved me!
I have Virtualdubmod opening .MKV's, each file has 2 audio streams, one is a piece of cake and saves as an OGG. On the darker side of things, the other is AC3 (5.1 Channels) and I simply can't save it properly, the best I have is a broken WAV file!
I have the "AC3 ACM Decompressor" and "AC3 Filter v1.01A RC5" installed, I can listen to AC3 sound no problem! I just read else where full processing mode is not used when saving it to WAV, so now I finaly have a file being produced using the Direct Stream method, only the file produced doesn't work :/
Attempting to open it in Goldwave Audio Editor gives me a message saying I have no codec to Encode or Decode it ¬_¬ Which is insane! G Spot claims it exists on my computer, as well as the AC3 Filter if that makes a difference.
I'm quite mystified... and any help would be appreciated! ^_^;;
Note: I'm not familiar with the whole Full Processing / Direct Stream thing, but when I activate Full processing mode, and I select it to convert... nothing can be selected to convert the file to :/ Dunno if that is of any significance >_< Thanks again for your time!
EDIT: The thread "aac 5.1 conversion to anything(pulling hair out)" seems to be suffering my problem as well, without any help posted yet, I can understand you all are busy :P I'll wait ages, I have a ton of other stuff to burn ^_^;;

If you are using the Demux option in the Stream List box in VirtualDubMod to extract the AC3 file you may need to run it through AC3fix to end up with a valid file.

I just downloaded it (along with the GUI), and frankly it isn't working for me!
I open the Wav file, and selected a save point, and hit the process button.... to have nothing happen :/ I'm more then happy to download more software, I already have loads just to make DVD's ¬_¬ HeadAch3 or something? I hear that deals with AC3... perhaps I should try punching iot through besweet...
... Of course, besweet doesn't support Wav files, and I can't open it in Goldwave to even attempt a conversion *sighs* Perhaps like the Motion Menu disaster in DVD Lab... I should give up now, before I waste days on end trying to defeat the inevitable, unless anyone has any other ideas?
Thanks for your time, and putting up with my pessimism :/ -

(-> it´s not the same ac3enc.dll as used in besweet!)
BTW
another fine free app now supports AC3:
WaveWizard 0.5
I will set it online within a few hours, meanwhile you can take a look at the discussion thread
