  1. I have a project in Adobe Premiere 6.0, I want to export it, so I can author it in TMPGEnch DVD Author.

I can export it, but it is in AVI and the file will not read in TMPGEnc DVD Author, and it also won't be accepted into TMPGEnc Plus.

This is in the Miccrosoft DV AVI setting, if I try the Microsoft AVI setting, the quality becomes crap.

Can someone please help me this, thanks.

you can frameserve directly to tmpgenc plus with debugmode frameserver. no need to create an avi then.

or get a mpg plugin for premiere.

You may have missed this option or it may be greyed out

Go on the File Menu and Choose Export Movie/Export Timeline (i forgot which)..choose SAVE FOR WEB

Canopus EZ Cleaner by TERRAN will launch and offer to make your file A MPEG-2 right in PREMIERE 6.0

Don't know why people can't see PREMIERE will output MPEG-2 directly in this way!

  4. Thanks to both of you,

I used the Debug Frameserving method.

Thanks to dcsos too for pointing out that other option.

  5. havash, the frameserve way is a good one assuming you´ve got it working correctly, for example, I´ve always had problems with a couple of frameservers I tried(specially in VBR mode), and therefore prefer to export an AVI file(DV compliant)in Premiere and load it in tmpgenc to get the best results (maybe the EZ Cleaner solution is easier but I personally prefer the quality I get from tmpenc)
To load correctly a DV AVI file you go to: Option/Enviromental settings/VFAPI plug in/ ...
and change the priority of(I think)the Direct Show Multimedia File reader (I´m not 100% sure this is the one you have to adjust, as I did it a while ago, but I´m sure you can find out about it in one of the many tmpgenc guides around)...anyway, if the priority is set to, let´s say -1, change it to 0...then hit OK to apply the change, then I suggest you close and re-open the program and try to load your file...if it still finds it unreadable(or unloadable), go again to change the priority to 1, etc...just remember to work in small increments and just until you get a result or to much tweaking around can cause instability...
Anyone else familiar with TMPGENC is welcome to correct me, because as I said, I set it up some time ago, but has worked great ever since.

  6. Julitomg,

Awesome insight there! I've been wracking my brain for days trying to figure out why Premiere Elements exported dv avi wouldn't load in TMPGencPlus. I adjusted that direct show in 2 steps (to +1) and it works great now. What ever made you decide to try that fix?

    Thanks tons!
