  1. i just finished creating a dvd of some fansubbed anime and when i play it i noticed that the subtitles are cut off and so are the picture. i'm wondering why this is happeing and what i can do to fix it?

    Most likely it's the "overscan" that's in any consumer TV - there best as I know to hide visual anomalies in the TV signal..

    Your main choices would be either
    a) get a studio monitor (w no overscan)
    b) re-encode the files, and add some borders for padding (do a search here - this comes up pretty often)
    c) just deal with it

    Do an All Forums search for "picture cut off". There you'll find this link, which pretty much explains why this is so and what you can do about it.

    Also look in the glossary for overscan.



    ... and yes, this seems to come up at least once a week ...
