Does anyone have any suggestions of better software than WinDVD Creator 2 for capturing these types of video with MP3 audio. This one requires a $15 upgrade to allow MP3 sound to be recorded along with the picture.
I'm using the Plextor M402U via USB2.0 to capture, and i am very pleased with the picture quality, even from VHS tapes, but the lack of MP3 audio support, and having to pay to upgrade really bugs me.
thanks

If you really are well pleased with the video quality, I'd strongly urge you to pay the price of $15 and upgrade your product.
Trust me, when it comes to capturing software you will remember the phrase "You've gotta kiss a thousand frogs to find a single prince".
Good Luck!

tvguy, the following apps work with the ConvertX:
gb-pvr
virtualdub 1.6.9
myth-tv (for linux)
plextor gocap (own unsupported app)
u need to install some mp3 encoding software like Lame in order to select it from virtualdub for example.
dunno what bundle u got, but here in Europe i can record audio in mp2/mp3 out of the box with windvd creator. I wish i had the Ulead videostudio 8 SE that's bundled now in the States -
Yeah seems like we got a bit of what the other wants,You got MP3 which is what i wanted etc.
I'll take a look at those other progs, thanks for the reply
