  1. this has really frustrated me.
my dvd player (panasonic from about 2 years ago) is struggling to play many of my burned disks, so i figured i'd buy a new one. it plays 8x discs, but rarely plays 16x, even though they're all burned at 4x on the same drive with the same program.
so, i figured i'll go out and buy a new one. i tried the philips 622, the one that says it plays everything. it didn't play it. tried a toshiba, same thing. then a cyberhome.. i tested one at work (bestbuy) and it worked excellent. took one home, reads 8x but not 16. thats 3 different players in 3 days. this is SOOOOO frustrating. why would this be happening? any ideas why a player can play one and not the other?
im giving a JVC player a try tomorrow. the display model at work played them all, so i hope that maybe one that i take home will as well.

i suggest purchasing a pioneer.. like the pioneer dv-270, dv-271, dv-275 (they're all the same thing)..

they've played pretty much every single burned dvd i've thrown at them.
