  1. I don't know if I have one, so could someone let me know what it is and where to check if I have it. I Wonder if it will help my audio playback. Also can video make the audio sound buzzy? It make the same noise as when a TV stations reception isn't coming in. I am referring to the noise my captured video makes in playback. I am thinking about having Gateway repair check to see if my sound card is recording funny. I wonder if isn't is my computer because I used two tv cards and their capture also vitual dub and the sound was the same.

    Hi,

The VIA chipset is a pair chips used on many motherboards the multiplex the data flow busses on the motherboards They interface the PCI buss coming fom the card cage through the KT133 chip to either the main processor buss or to the main memory,.. so if you moving data from a PCI card to the CPU or directly into main memory,.. it has to go through the VIA chip set. These are made by Via Hardware and you can check out there WEB site for more info.

    http://www.viahardware.com

If you bought a total system you may not have a copy of the motherboard reference guide. You need to find out what kind of motherboard you have,... and then there is a WEB site that can tell what kind of chips are on it.

"Technology",...It's what keeps us all moving forward.

  3. If you have a Gateway computer. You likely do not have a via chipset.

Consider yourself lucky that you don't have a via chipset but consider yourself unlucky to have a gateway.
