    i just got a new laptop with a QSI DVD+-RW SDW-082. can anyone tell me the specs on this,burn speed, bit setting?
    my whole life flashed be fore my eyes,and i wasnt even dead yet.

    Try DVDInfo, it will tell you the specs on all of your optical drives.

    See the button that is circled? This one allows you to set the various bitsetting parameters for your drive(s).

    I've never been able to get DvdInfo to work on my liteon drive.

    Go here and try the liteon bit setting utility, http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_utility.asp


    Or you can get dvdrw_omnipatcher which will make your drive always auto bitset +R, http://codeguys.rpc1.org/
    This is what i used to flash my drive to auto bitset and also can change write & speed strategy's.
