Hi!
im trying to backup (only main movie) a dvd i own but when using dvd shrink to backup the main movie Vts1 has two titles with the exact same length and size, when i preview both of them in shrink both of them play the main movie but it can be because shrink says each title is 5.6 gig, a dual layer dvd has 9 gig only.
when opening the dvd with dvdd in ifo mode it shows vts1 has 3 pgc's:
2 pgcs with same length an size and the 3rd pgc is 1 second long
what should i do to backup correctly?

The numbers don't add up because the PGCs overlap: most of the movie is the same but it has two versions with something different about them, such as alternate language credits or director's cut version or something similar. Each PGC branches through its own version. Figure out what's different and which one you want, and choose that one in DVDShrink.

oh i see, theres a alternate ending in the special options i guess thats why its displaying 2 pgcs then.
thanks will preview the two pgcs and see if they are differents in the endI love it when a plan comes together! -
i previewed the two pgcs in dvd shrink and the end is identical in both

Eventually, you just get used to the idea.
If the times match precisely, and you cannot find the differences by checking the obvious, you can also check Amazon.com under "techincal details" to look for clues, and also the IMDB.com which has a link for technical specs on the various DVDs. If you still cannot find your answer, then my advice is always to just select "Title one," and give this one a shot. USUALLY I have found that this is the most "typical," or the
default" version.

Bruce thanks for your suggestions
the dvd i bouught is "national treasure"
it has english and portuguese soundtrack

thanks guys for all the input!I love it when a plan comes together! -
Hey Ricardouk,
I bought an English/Portuguese DVD (Matinee, 1997?, with John Goodman) from someplace on Ebay. It was REgion 1 but was not encrypted. Are all of your Portuguese DVDs un-encrypted?
Just curious. -
no, they are crypted . region 1 probably its portuguese but from >Brazil
im from Portugal and here as in the rest of europe is region2I love it when a plan comes together! -
I guessed that it probably was from Brazil, since it was region 1. I was just curious if the studios or whoever encrypted *all* Portuguese and foreign language DVDs, or just some of them. Looks like just some of them.

Ricardouk:
I know you said you checked, and that the endings of both versions were identical. However, I just did a search, and the Region 2 of "National Treasure" definitely has an "alternate ending."
Here are the specs I am looking at:
===
NATIONAL TREASURE
REGION 2
PAL, Widescreen
• Special Feature Information:
° Bonus Treasure Hunt Level 1
° National Treasure On Location
° Opening Scene Animatic
° Alternate Ending
° Deleted Scenes
° Bonus Treasure Hunt Level 2
° Treasure Hunters Uncovered
° The Knights Templar
° Rileys Decode This
° Roadblock Easter Egg

I successfully backed up the Region 1 edition of this same movie, (I remember buying it the day it came out here in the US). This Region 1 version also has the "alternate ending." I just popped it in, right now so I could check, and my Region 1 also has two "main titles" listed in DVDShrink. When i backed mine up, I just chose the first title, as that was the ending of the original theatrical version.
I have never actually seen or dealt with the Region 2 version, so I cannot be positive about this, but the specs I found above seem to suggest that it may have the same two versions...

thanks for the info BSpielbauer
it has alternate ending but there isnt a choice to view the entire movie with a different end, theres only an option to view the end in the extras section.
i backed it up choosing title 1.
i think it has something to do with the option watch "film with trivia" that gets unlocked when you find out the "master code" that unlock all the extras.
thanks for the time you spent helping me with the problem!
Ricardo
this dvd has cool menus, secret codes to unlock extras etcI love it when a plan comes together!
