just the ripping?
depends on the total filesize to be ripped and your dvd-rom.
file size can vary a lot, from 4gb (or less) to the dubble or so.
some dvd-roms can rip faster than 1.5x, my pioneer rip up to 14x.
if it takes more than 40min you should get a new dvd-rom.

yea it take 5-14mins to rip a DVD like Agzz said if it takes more then 40-45 and this happens to every DVD then your DVD-Drive is worn out
