  1. Real newbie question here. I just created a DVD with 5.1 surround sound however when I select the 5.1 audio on my DVD player no sound is heard. The option to use it is there, just no sound. Do I need a special sound card to output in 5.1? Or is it that I don't have a 5.1 stereo system Even so, shouldn't at least play out of 2 speakers?

  2. What was the source audio? What software did you use to create the DVD? What software encoded the audio? Did the source audio work to begin with? See where I'm headed?

It's a good question, just no information in it.

Sorry for being so vague. I thought it was pretty straight forward.

I used DVD Decrypter and extracted the ac3 file out of the VOB from a DVD. Then I loaded it and the video file into Sony DVDA 3.0 and chose dolby 5.1 as the output.

Source audio worked fine and AC3 2-channel works fine.
