cannot see movie when burning with dvd 16x

I have a sony dru 510a and I have been burning movies on it and I would be able to see all my movies on any of my dvd players at home fine. but last week I made a mistake on buying some dvd's 16x and now I can't see any of the movies on my dvd players.I look on my old dvds and they were 8x so I figured that is my problem now I don't know if the dru 510 cannot use the 16x dvds or if maybe I have to change the settings, when burning with the 8x I leave it at max speed. and I know the dru is only 4x write speed so anyway can anyone help me with this cause I have like 45 of these 16x dvds left.

Only thing I can suggest is to be sure you are using the latest firmware for your Sony burner. New firmware often have the latest media write strategys.
