I just bought some Japanese movies and the English subtitles are pretty bad sometimes, horrible grammer etc. I want to know if there is anyway I can somehow edit the existing files, fixing the mistakes then burning the movie with them. I know its probably a lot more complicated than that but I really don't know what I'm doing so if anybody can recommend me some guides for what I want to do or tell me if its even possible to do what I want please do! Thanks

The subtitles only exist as BITMAP drawings, so editing would be difficult beyond belief. However, you can use various sub rippers that use OCR techniques to convert the bitmaps to text (and keep all the timing information). I use SubRip. Then you can edit the text to your hearts content.
    ICBM target coordinates:
    26° 14' 10.16"N -- 80° 16' 0.91"W

Use SubRip to open the VOB containing the subtitles. It'll save the subtitles to srt format. SUP files aren't text, they're images. You're going to have to rip the subs to srt, edit them and then reauthor the DVD somehow. You should be able to find about a bazillion guides in the How To section on the left.
