  2. Can only guess that you have either (A) errors on the original or (B) bad media that you are burning it on. Inexpensive media isn't always the great deal you think it is. I bought some cheap media when I first started out and now I'm paying for it with random CRC errors that weren't there when I initially burned them.

    Have you tried to play the dvd from your hard drive prior to burning?

    Ok

    If the apps arent able to rip the disc to your HD then you could have;
    • dirty disc
      scratched disc
      dirty drive (and or lense)
      or maybe a faulty drive
    You could try cleaning the disc, drive lense or try ripping from a different drive (if you have one), or try different software to rip (even windows explorer simple cut and paste can sometimes work)

    If you mean that the apps rip fine but the resultant copy skips / freezes then you could have;
    • Dodgy or crappy blank media
      faulty burner
      incompatability problem between media and standalone

    Some of the following are mentioned above, but they should all help to determine exactly wot your problem is;
    • Does the original disc play ok in standalone and PC?
      If you have been sucessful in ripping a copy to HD, does it play properly from the HD? (no skipping etc)
      Have you sucessefully backed up other DVD using the SAME drive, software, blank media and played in same standalone?
      wot media are you using?
