Hm,
I saw an episode of King of Queens about a week ago where Doug was trying to operate a lift. I couldn't help but notice how familiar the sound of the lift was. Sure enough, it's the sound of the compression chamber opening/closing in The Terminator. That is, in the original mix... the 5.1 mix uses a different sound effect. (yes, I compared the waveforms)
I take it this means that the sound was a stock effect? Could it be purchased somehow?
