  1. I was just wondering... i usually turn off everything(internet connection, softs running on bg, games, dvd authoration steps- suchs as dvd Shrink deep analysis, or Maestro doing compilations- etc...) before i start recording a dvd-r... but, when i have to record lots of dvd's(it took hours, sometimes), well, i kinda lost a lot of time of internet downloading(i always download a lot of stuff, using Bit Torrent), so, i was just wondering if it is really safer doing dvd-r recordings this way(to avoid errors or something), or i can continue download my stuff via BT(or other ways), or making other stuffs such as dvd authoration(Shrink DA or Maestro compilations) AND recording dvd-r at the same time?
Thank you so much by the attention, you guys!

While you might not want to have TONS of stuff running, I often surf the internet/download/have word or excel going at the same time to no detriment at all.
    You should be okay.

    Yes, safer.

Anything you do that interrupts the IDE flow of data is bad, which includes most software. Something "docile" like solitaire or web browsers can load completely in RAM, don't need excessive HDD writes that can screw a burn up.

I've seen people that claim "I can do whatever I want and my discs look fine". But I've seen their discs too, and the burns are often screwed or full of errors. When you confront these same clowns, they just blow it off and say something retarded like "oh I don't care about that" or "all DVDs are like that".

Oh! Thank you so much! I thought that i was doing the right thing(turning most things off), cause, i usually make a lot of dvd trades with a friend of mine, and, a lot of his dvd's(authored and recorded by him) are full of errors and problems(i can't rip, or i can't even whatch decently), and he always do multiple things while recording, such as play games, downloading stuff BT using Azureus(it uses and abuses a lot of the main processor, sometimes... al least, it seems), making Maestro compilations(hum, this one, specially, could be the main reason of this bad dvd's? Since it's the root of the creation of the dvd's?!) and Shrink DA at the same time as recording...
    Thanks again!

I hope you're referring to home movies, as anything else is against site rules.

Your friend needs to listen to reason, not be a super computer dork that spits out crap discs. If he "needs" a computer that much, he should buy another one. Or at least do one thing at a time. I see and hear about this all the time.

Yes, they are all home movies, don't worry, my friend. Thanks for the reply, i'll tell him about this right away, i hope he can do his recordings with more attention from now on, it would be great(sometimes i have to send 3 or 4 dvd-r- good quality ones- so he can actually record just ONE for me, all the rest gets screwed up bad ones... and, he's not stealing me, he send the bad ones togheter, and yeah, he have 4 dvd rom recorders, and i just don't think they all are defective ones, so, it only can be the recording or authoration or both... and like i told, he does a lot of multiple stuff while authoring & recording...
PS(it's my dream to have another pc, to do my works, cause this one, i have to share with my two brothers, sigh...)

If you have a lot of dvd's to copy, download 'MultiShrink' http://www.dvdshrink.info/chetwood/index.php
Copy the dvd's to your hard drive using DVDDecrypter.
Start up as many instances of DVDShrink as needed, reauthor the dvd's as required. Then start 'MultiShrink' & go to bed. If you have instructed DVDShrink to create ISO files, they will be there on your pc in the morning ready to burn.

could not be more correct. i try my very best to do nothing at all when burning a dvd. sometimes i might do a little net surfing but i will try not to even do that. a dvd even on my 4x burner only takes 15 mins max to burn. do nothing for 15 mins V using the pc at the same time and has stuffed disc's i know which i choose. i also have a friend who does everything and anything on his computer while burning a dvd and when i try to play them or even read them in a pc dvdrom i can run into all sorts of troubles and errors.

what's 15 mins of lost computer use to have a GOOD burnt disc?
