  1. Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, and I would like to know how to turn a DVD into a .mkv file. The thing that I would like to ask from you is to prepare a step-by-step(updated) guide, because the ones that I have watched are too old and do not match with the new updated programs.
As I mentioned before, I am trying to a DVD with three audio tracks and a subtitle track and turn it into a MKV file(in which a user can choose his preferable language and subtitle track/s),with the best quality, using VirtualDubMod,the most reliable program for video editing.(at least that is what I believe)
Any ideas on how to do that, are also acceptable.
    Thanks in advance,
    ppeterr

I would use handbrake and convert to h264 video and keep the dolby 5.1 audio. And no I wont make a step by step guide.

    See http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides/dvdrip/235-convert-dvd-to-h264-mkv-mp4-using-handbrake

Or learn how to use MEGUI.

Use vob2mpg and load mpg into uncrop.mkv and set bitrate at 1700 and select 2pass encoding.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.
