ok, im of course burning dvd's, or atleast trying to. Im using Ashampoo shrink and burn to save the avi to m2v and ac3, then author the files with ifoedit to creat the vob and ifo files, and burn with nero 6.6 enterprise. my alternate method was: using Cucusoft mpeg to dvd to creat vob's then ifoedit create the ifo files (ran into several problems using this way) and nero 6.6 to burn. when all is done, everything looks how it should. ive compared the results to other burned dvd's that work in my player and it looks the same.

    my problem is this:
when i play the dvd, it plays great and the picture looks very good.... NO AUDIO, no matter what i play it in. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME CORRECT THIS? i am at my wits end trying to figure this out.
and i know im losing the audio during the burn process because i open the vob with vobedit and preview it and works just fine.

thank you all very much. i am very new to his, so im sorry if this is a noob question.

  2. Try playing the actual DVD in the PC, to confirm burn.

Not familiar with that software, but many AC3 encoders have issues. Particularly with some brands of players, which is why it is helpful to fill in that info. Suggest as a test to burn small clip with PCM or MP2 sound to see if that works.

i tried that as well. no audio in the pc. ive read that many ppl have had issues with ac3 codecs, so i tried it by creating the vob from mpg and then using ifoedit on the vob to create the ifo files. same thing there. no audio

  4. Can you play a standard, commercial, AC3 DVD in the PC? Also the standalone? First we must confirm that the player is OK.

Try playing just the AC3 file that you created on the PC. If that does not work, AFTER confirming that the PC can play AC3 files, then the AC3 encoder is at fault.

If the AC3 file does play, then the next step is to play the muxed video or VOB file on the PC. If it fails, then something is wrong with the muxing or VOB creation process. If that works, then it is the authoring, burning, or actual disk that is at fault.
