I recently converted a .avi with a .srt to a .dvd using ffmpegx. when i watch the dvd in dvd player the subtitles show up when i turn them on, but after i burn it with toast the subtitles dissapear. also, when i add two converted .dvd's to dvd2onex neither .dvd's show subtitles even though i just watched them with subtitles in dvd player. please help i really need to be able to watch this dvd on a stand alone dvd player.
thanks

If you burn or author with Toast by dragging media files to it, then subtitles are ignored (not a Toast feature). You'll have to burn a complete, pre-authored VIDEO_TS folder in the correct mode to keep the subtitle streams. Could that be why subtitles are lost?
P.S. Please list software version numbers, as features change between versions. This makes it more clear what you're working with.

Hey Case,
When i go to burn the .dvd folder (with the video_ts and audio_ts) i do just drop and drag so that could be why. I am using toast v 8.0.3 and ffmpegx v 0.0.9x, let me know if i should upgrade to the newest version of toast or what else i need to do to keep the subtitles stream. Also, its technically two .dvd folders each with subtitles (though both play the subtitles in DVD player and VLC), so if you can suggest any way to join them (though i've already tried dvd2onex - even then i lose the subtitles) that would also be appreciated. thanks alot

You can't use Toast to combine several VIDEO_TS folders on one DVD and keep the subtitles. Combining sources means re-authoring, and authoring with Toast currently ignores the subtitle streams in VOB and MPEG files.
It is a regular feature request at Roxio, so hopefully version 10 will be more useful in this regard.
I thought DVD2OneX should be able to keep subs from both sources, but I have never used the combine feature with DVD2OneX.
