  1. Heyo,

I have two .avi files that I want to put together and play on a single DvD. I am having a hellacious time of it, however.

I use a Mac. I was advised that I could use iMovie to import two .dv files and then use iDvD to make the DvD. FFMpegx was suggested as the program for use in converting from .avi to .dv.

And that's where I've been stuck for a few days now. The .avi files are letterbox but none of the conversions I have accomplished, except once when I tried mpeg but that wouldn't import into iMovie, keep the proper aspect ratio. Either the picture is all distorted, compressed from wide to full, or the letterboxes don't show up or some part of the movie doesn't show up. I am about at my wit's end.

I am open to any suggestions I can get, either on how to make the conversion work or on a good way to get two .avi files burned together as one DvD.

And, since I was asked why, I have two .avi's that my younger brother made. They are snippets of movies, movies he took during his junior year at school, family vacations, and other family/personal video. He's GREAT at this stuff. I, on the other hand, am a novice. I'm hoping to surprise him by putting it all together since I know that he does not have a DvD burner.

    Anyway, thanks for any help!

  2. Forget the above method and convert instead each .avi to "DVD mpeg2enc" and with audio format set to MP2, 224kbps, 48000Hz. You will obtain for each movie a pair of m2v and mp2 files. Finally, use Sizzle to author the multiple pairs into a single DVD.
