VH1's coverage is really stinking up the airways. All talk and no music.

I tried watching the Pink Floyd performance and the two dicks talked over "Comfortably Numb" and later broke for commercial before the song was even finished. Sons of bitches.

I ended up going back and forth between the TV and the computer. AOL is suppose to have all the performances available to view for the rest of summer...........

I finally had time to see Pink Floyd on AOL. I was happy to see it! Apparently they got mixed reviews. I say it was pretty good for what it was, a live event (although I watched it recorded) the guys are 30 years older than their prime and it showed in their vocals, but hey time takes a toll on us all. Someone reported that it was somewhat mechanical or something to that effect and I say go take a flying leap. I never thought of Floyd as a headbanging band anyways. I always kind of felt that they where more on the dark or thought provoking side. They looked happy to be playing and it took me down Memory Lane. I give it a thumbs up!

All I got was the radio as live and the TV coverage as 24 hour delay.

Live8 on CH9 as pathetic as to broadcast it only on highlights for two hours with heaps of ads.

I suppose I'll have to wait for the official DVD release?

Live8 was as political as it could have been. I stay away from politics, specially that I don't share the same view of the world as it has been promoted by these clowns and idiots.
Like previous poster - I'll wait for DVD with just music / no bullsh*t And I won't buy it either, there were only handful of bands Im interested in... I guess it'll be available to rental some time in 2050

  10. There were some good performances on there. Reminded me of Live Aid 1985. I think Geldof was afraid to admit this was just another Live Aid 2. Was prettu stupid to think that more money is gonna fix Africa. I enjoyed it just for seeing the ole bands get together again. There should have been more 80s bands though. Motley Crue got ripped though. There was no Bass guitar for the first half of Home Sweet Home. I wonder if Neil shoved a mic stand up the sound guy's ass after the show. I would've.

I salute Geldof for his effort. But there is too much crack in the system that the aid monies will be soak up and ended somewhere else.

  12. The overwhelming feeling in the UK is that Floyd stole the show as confirmed by topping most TV and Newspaper Polls.

Their record sales in the UK shot up by more than 1300% overnight which prompted Dave Gilmour to announce that Floyd would donate all the extra revenue to charity as they refused to profit from their appearance.

I thought that for 4 virtual 60 year olds they performed magnificently and their opening rendition of "breathe" was almost record perfect.

Their was the odd duff vocal note here and there but overall it was very good and in particular Gilmours guitar solo in Comfortably Numb was fantastic.

Of course their music is not to everyones taste and I appreciate some people were not impressed but I'm sure all Floyd fans thought it was great.

What amazed me was the number of young kids in the audience who were caught on camera by the BBC singing along to the words - they were'nt even born the last time the original band played live!

    ROZ

I got to agree, I thought Floyd was pretty good. I would like to see them do a mellow tour or maybe make a DVD with video of them live like a virtual concert. Most of my favorite music videos are the ones that show the bands on stage or in the studio as opposes to the fantasy of some director.

Like I keep saying, I was happy to see them play again and I hope that they had a good time too!
