  1. Hi All

Does anyone know how to change subtitles frame rate from one standard to next?

I have to use both English and Traditional or Semplified Chinese subtitles. Chinese subs run almost always at 25FPS while the Vobs I have are either NTSC film (23.9) FPS or Plain NTSC.

I have 2 problems: synchronize the VOBS with the Subs. Use DVDSTUDIOPRO unless I burn one sub forever in the video and add the other using FFMPEGX.

I tried to use Sizzle but it always dies on me after trying to synch VOBS and Sub files. (more later)

    Synching problems:

Using SubSynch is a very long and time consuming process. For instance if the subs are not in the srt format I can't use it at all. Even if I have srt files, setting the first and last sub NTSC Timecode Value works only if the Vobs run at 29.97FPS. If they are at 23.9 FPS it's impossible to do it. Reducing the Timecode for the last Subtitle simply moves it ahead of the others ...

Tried to convert the VOBs from the several NTSC flavours to PAL as follows

Merged the several vob files into one using Extractor
Convert the single Vob File from NTSC to PAL using FFMPEGX.

Encode with the DVD mpeg2enc preset The Audio part of the Vob File gives an error. so I have to use DVD ffmpeg.

Import to Sizzle (after previewing with Mplayer through FFMPEGX)

Sizzle tells me that the sound exported is not true AC3 and will give me problems. After encoding for hours Sizzle dies.

Demux the single VOB with several apps: Streamclip, FFMPEGX, then convert the AUDIO with Soundconverter or to WAVE with QuicktimePro.

Tried to convert the audio files from WAVE or AIFF to either MP2 or AC3 using everything I have, still Sizzle doesn't like it.

This happens because very often the Audio I have is encoded in MP1 simulated stero and VBR. Even if I convert to AIFF or WAVE there must be something wrong during this process. As Sizzle doesn't accept AIFF nor WAVE I have to convert them again into MP2 or AC3.

I also tried to convert using Compressor but Also Compressor gives me errors.

    What to do?

It's weird that one should still use Virtual PC or Guest PC because there are few subtitles application available for MAC OSX

    javascript:emoticon('')

    Help please

ask a friend with xp to convert your srt files to to the frame rate you want with subtitle workshop.

if it still not in sync i can only personally vouch for Subsync to do it .
I love it when a plan comes together!
