I recently accquired a large hard disk, and to take advantage of the NTFS file system which overcomes the 4GB limit, I installed WIN2K.

The capture device I'm using is the Dazzle DVC(USB). I had no problems capturing with this device using Virtual DUB 1.47D with Windows 98 or WinME.

Under Win2K, I get the message "No capture driver available"

The program bundled with DAZZLE (Moviestar) works perfectly.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Wait a moment Bro..........you used Vdub to capture from the dazzle ?!?!?!?!?!

It should only work with the MovieStar program. I've only ever used mine with Win 2k, and XP (both Kernel based OS'), and it has only ever used MovieStar.

To get your best results in MovieStar, I cap at 3000 vid bitrate by 224 aud bitrate. Then you can filter it and re-encode to VCD in TMPG or Vegas Video. I realize this is a bit redundant (the goal of a hardware mpeg encoder obviosly would be to cap straight to vcd spec's), however to get perfect results I'd recommend doing this.

Thus, you get excellant quality, while still not needing a large amount of drive space for your capping.

Please let me know if you've found any other programs that'll let you capture the dazzle feed, I'd be very interested in trying them

  3. at this time virtualdub is only able to communicate with hardware thru the vfw architecture. win2k is directshow(wdm) only. in order for virtualdub to communicate with your device's wdm drivers, you need the microsoft wdmvfw mapper. the easiest route is to install the wdm capture drivers then install directx 8.1(or directx 8(a) /w video capture update)
