First off, I want to say that I'm famillar with the basics of how to copy games and the modded ps2's that are needed to play them. I have copied pretty much all my games, and they play just fine, but there are two that act kind of funny: GTA and Call Of Duty Finest Hour. Concerning GTA, It takes an extremly long time to finish loading. After the loading bar is full, the game just sits there for about 5min. After it finally does something different, I'd either get an error messege that says, problem reading disc. or the games goes on and I'm able to play, but funny things still happen. I'll try and explain it the best I can.
Lets say I'm driving down a street and everthing is normal. What I mean by normal is the buildings are where they supposed to be, along with the other scenery. Now all of a sudden, it seems as if I've out ran the scenery; I'm in the car, but the screen has nothing in it; its just an empty solid color (for example: a solid blue screen). Now if I stop driving, the screen catches up and then I able to see where I'm supposed to go.
Now concerning Call of Duty, The game loads up fine, but after I get to the point where I'm supposed to follow Kuslov, or whatever his name is, thats when the problem begins. Kuslov will move as for as the end of the wooden trench and then stops and he will not do anything else. I recieve messeges that I should follow Kuslov, but he doesn't move. If I try and advance on my own, I just get blown up.
Could this be some type of protection that I have to get past?
Please help me with this problem.
PS. Although I've used the same media for GTA, Call of Duty, and My other games that play fine, I've burned them onto different media with the same results.

To quickly answer the question, as for GTA: SA I have made a backup of that game from my original and I have played it on my PS2 many times and I have never encountered that problem, so I dont believe its a protection issue. But since I run the game from the hard drive on my PS2 the load times are greatly reduced. But as far as my backup disc goes, I have never had that problem when I tested the disc in the console. I have been using the Ritek 4x G04's to put my backups on.
I know that when I made a backup of DBZ Budokai 3 onto Ritek G05's and tried to test the backup, the game took forever to respond and even enountered the problem where the game action was out of sync with the audio!!Whenever I did a punch or a special attack, the sound effect of those attacks played about a second later.....and eventually the audio cut out when I was on the world map. That sure sucked.
But when I made the same backup on the G04's I have been using, that problem ceased and had no problems since. Of course the loading time was still slow but installing it on the hard drive took care of that problem. Apparently my PS2 doesnt like the G05's at all, even for DVD movie backups, so I stick to the G04's. The G05 DVD backups play fine in my standalone players though.
I think that once I finish using up all of the Ritek DVD blanks I will look into getting the TY brand since they are high quality discs for both game and DVD movie backups.
VTMI have the staff of power, now it's up to me to use it to its full potential to command my life and be successful.
