  2. Many years ago you got paid a little bit if the
    recipient ordered something.

Not worth the effort in my opinion though.

it is a scam -- they make you pay for the materials to stuff the envelopes with ...

    look up scams ....

there are machines which are pretty cheap and can stuff 1000's of envelopes a hour and work 24/7 ....

Things have changed in the last 35 years!!!

It used to be that you would send out advertisements
for a widget, as an example.

If somebody bought the widget from the advertisement
that you mailed to them you received a tiny profit.

Multi-level marketing was another popular home-based
business that didn't really bring the operator an income.

@mol3000............ If you are interested in that sort of
work you are probably young. I did the same thing many
decades ago! Nope, didn't make any money.

Check out Sparetime magazine if you want to get more info.

What the thing is that you send money to "learn" the secret. You send a SASE and like $18 and they send you instructions. The basic idea is that you take out and ad to teach people the secret. All they got to do is send you a SASE and $18 and you send the secrets out. It goes on and on and...

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

In the 70s when I was wasting my money doing all of that is was
desireable to become the prime source so you could be in the inner circle.

I think a lot of people are still doing that today!!!

It wasn't like that a long time ago.

That's why I wondered when everybody used the word 'scam'!!!

Multi-level marketing is where you try to find other people
to sell the products, and they, in turn, find somebody to
    do it, and so on.

Maybe it really has changed that much over time.

Money was only made by the 'prime source'. Mostly, everybody
    was selling to each other!!!

You mentioned that there aren't jobs near you. If you want to work
from home you can check Sparetime magazine, Income Opportunities,
    Entrepreneur, etc.

There's nothing wrong with what you're trying to do, so DON'T let
anybody say you can't do it.

We've built our business up over the decades despite odds that
would have other people giving up. We're in retail, not mail-order, so
we deal with the customers directly. Sometimes that's a pain!!!

    Good luck!

No offence intended, but blind, deaf, dumb, crippled and retarded people are working all over the world. The point is that there is work to be had. No, it may not be a dream job no, it may not lead to early retirement. And you may have to adjust your lifestyle to live within your means.

It is hard to be self employed, it is feast or famine most of the time and high stress all of the time. The only quick and easy about money is the way that it leaves my pocket.

Now that I have depressed the hell out of you, there is good news. Nobody lives forever, someday money won't matter.
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

Mailorder would be alright but you need to find some products.

I sold T-Shirts many decades ago and did okay.

If you live in a rural area it's understandable why there
    aren't many jobs.

There has been a lot of negative talk in this thread but I
hope you don't get too discouraged!!!

    Hardcoreruss started a business too!!!

Does anybody know if he's still standing on the ledge?!!!
