  1. Hi there,

For one of my classes, I have an instructional DVD, which has unfortunately passed through so many hands, that it has become scratched beyond repair.

I was able to extract part of it on my computer, after a lot of trial and error, and I ended up with a number of .VOB files which I'd like to author into a new DVD. Luckily, they're exactly what I needed; there was more on the original disc, but I can't get to those at all... I need a simple "translation" of these .Vob files into a format which can be used by Ulead to make a new DVD, with a simple menu.

    The guide posted here https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224833
    is terribly complicated...

Does anyone know of a program/utility that would do this conversion?

Note: I can't use DVDShrink or lots of other programs, since the ripping was incomplete.

    Hi,

You could use dvdx to make an svcd. That's the best mpg quality you'd get with a no fuss program.

Womble MPEG Video Wizard can do the job. It's a bit expensive, but it has a 30 day free trial. It's a sweet program!

    Good luck!

Load the VOBs into Womble Mpeg Video Wizard and save as mpg.
    Download the time limited evaluation.

Uhh, I was a little bit behind previous poster

  6. LOL, I figured it out... it was simply a question of renaming all the .VOB files I needed to .MPG... Ulead did a great job in making a DVD with them, and there's no A/V sync issues I'm aware of...

Thanks everybody, I'm looking into the programs you suggested anyway, you never know when I'll need them...

    Cheers!

That won't always work right. Baldrick's solution is the cleanest and easiest way to do this right.
