2 part problem avi convert and nero question

I have some avi movies and would like to convert them so that Nero can read them and was wondering are there any good free ones that work. Right now I have DivxtoDvd but that takes awhile. My second question is since im having horrible problems trying to figure how to burn using the software I have is it worth it for me to buy nero ultra?

There's also a number of guides dealing with burning woth different sofware - also check out the tools section for other burning tools.

Funnily enough, DivxToDVD is probably the quickest AND best all-in-one I've seen to date ...
