This has probably been answered already but how do I update the firmware on a Pioneer DVR109 writer?
I have downloaded the update from the Pioneer UK site and ran the upgrade utility but all I get is an error message saying Available Target Is Not Found.
I have tried running the utility from Windows and from a command prompt (cmd) but the same occurs.
Thanks in advance

It's hard to say with no details, but most likely either the firmware doesn't match the drive model, or the drive is attached via Firewire or USB where the utility can't see it.

My guess is that you downloaded the A09 (retail version) of the firmware, and you have a DVR-109 (OEM version) or vice-versa. The firmwares are different and won't recognize the other type of drive.
Whatever you downloaded, look for the OTHER firmware and d'l/try again... -
Check ou the Pioneer forum on http://www.cdfreaks.com, they have instructions on how to flash your DVR109 to an A09, allowing you to use quiet drive and have an unlocked rip speed. Or, you could flash it to a Buffalo drive, and have auto-bitsetting for +R and +R DL discs.
