    What is the difference between the DV-434 and DV-444?
    Is it worth the extra money for the DV-444?

    And is the DV-444 the newest model by Pioneer?

    What is the difference between the DV-434 and DV-444? It is the ability to playback MP3's. The Progressive Scan, may be, too, if you need it. And it was released in Fall 2001.

    The above is true about the dv-444, but also, it can play dvd-rw dvd-rom (dvd burner discs) and evey type of vcd: svcd, xvcd, etc.
    I have my eye on this player cause it can play everything... and some point down the road I hope to buy a dvd burner and this will work with those discs... only problem is the price...

    Even DVD-ROM??? Does it recognize a DVD-ROM as a DVD-Video assuming that the later has been DVD-authored?
