    hello, just recently everytime i play any avi (all diff sources,types of avi)
    i get a windows explorer error report and a wmp error report.
    tried getting new divx codec but didnt do anything. i have no idea what the problem is. any help much apprecviated

    Try disabling MS's buggy thumbnail shell.

    The shell extension that gives you a thumbnail for video files. It tries to read files, then crashes, locks files up, etc.
