id like to make a back up of my R1 dvd disc, but id like to play it on my R2 only portable player, what tool can i use to do this ?

if you make a backup ,say with DVD Decrypter, the end result will be region Free. Unles you are dealing with Pal and NTSC then this is a whole different game.

Exactly...changing regions won't do squat unless your portable player can handle both NTSC and PAL.

Usually, most R2 players handle both NTSC and PAL.
