I was able to burn NTSC/PAL videos using VCDeasy onto one VCD and had no problems playing it in my DVD player.

Which DVD authoring programs allows the same?

The problem was that after converting a TaiChi PAL video into NTSC, the audio is out of sync with the video. Is there a fix of the problem?

No. Against the DVD spec. Make 2 discs, 1 PAL, 1 NTSC

DVD Lab Pro will allow it, but give you a warning that the disk is out of spec and may not play back correctly. Follow the blue guru's advice and burn two disks, or convert them correctly to a single format.

  5. I think you'll find the DVD-Video spec says you can not have mixed PAL / NTSC content in the same VOB. On the same disc is not a problem so long as your viewing device can handle both.

"The program material recorded on a DVD disc can belong to only one of the two video standards, not both"

The exception being double-sided disks, where one side can be mastered NTSC and the other PAL

  7. That may be true of your application - I think you'll find that's what is imposing the limit, not the DVD-Video standard.

I have only seen one (professional) mastering app that would let you mix the video standard on one disc when actually authoring mixed content (putting each video format in it's own VOB file), most of the commercial grade ones don't want the bother I suspect.

I don't think you read it correctly - that is from the specification, nothing to do with any particular application. Mastering a double-sided disk is essentially mastering two disks, so you aren't mixing formats.

Whether or not an authoring app allows you to go outside the spec is another matter entirely.

Yep. I have done this beforewith dvdlab pro. I have a couple of disc's that have mixed video...NTSC and PAL. You just have to have them on different vts. Granted it's not the best way to do it because a lot of players will choke on disc's like this...but it can be done. Download dvdlab pro and author your disc making sure to put the different videos in seperate vts. Just be aware that if/when you get a new dvd player it may not play this disc.

  10. Kinda of OT, but with my Pinn. Studio, it won't mix widescreen and 4:3 in the same footage. I don't know about others.

Pinnacle Studio won't do it because it can't create mutliple titlesets. You can't mix aspect ratios or different resolutions or different audio formats in the same titleset. Any half decent authoring app will allow it though.

    Hi, guns1inger, freebird73717,

Thanks for your reporting of observations:

    1. What is you DVD player make/model that can play the mixed disc?

As mentioned at the beginning of this thread, my Panasonic DVD-RV32
allowed me to play NTSC/PAL mixed VCDs created via VCDeasy.
Hope it could do the same for mixed DVDs!

    2. What is DTS?

    3. Which DVD Utility software would diagnose DVD disc and provided
information of it such as mixed NTSC/PAL?
