  1. I just can't figure out what the deal is exactly. I am taking a home movie, and I have it captured at 720 X 480. Its a total of 8.02 GB. What I would like to do is burn it to a DVD+R DL, with "standard play" quality. (240 minutes worth) At least that is my goal. The movie itself is 2 hours and 17 minutes. And I can't shave any off. Anyways, I click on "make a dvd", then dvd video, I then proceed to add the movie to my project. The problem is it always says I have 4.38 GB avail. But I have a Dual layer drive, and I have a blank dual layer disc. I want to put this video on a dual layer. I can't for the life of me, figure out why or HOW to get NVE to recognize I have 8.5 GB avail instead of 4.38. Am I missing something I don't get it. I did ONE time get NVE to tell me I could put this movie on a DVD9 disc. (I didn't save the prodject) But I think it was a freak accident now. Can someone help me please?

I don't have NVE installed, so I can't verify it practically, however the lastest manual for NVE3 (available for download at nero.com) makes no mention of DL as a valid format for NVE. All references to DVD are to songle-layer disks only. I would suggest that your recollections are incorrect, and that NVE does not support DL authoring, regardless of the capabilities of your drive.

If you want DL, then you need an authoring program that can handle DL. Not all can.

TMPGENC DVD Author version 1.6 supports dual-layer authoring and burning. It's quite simple to use. I'd recommend it.

DVD Lab Pro, DVD Architect, even DVD Author I think can do it. The biggest issue is control over the layer break.
