Hi, I've seen several threads pertaining to the occasional red/blue inversion problem on the DVP642 while playing DivX or Xvid files, though no final solution. Has anyone found one?
Example: 22 files of a TV series ripped using Decrypter in IFO Mode, all identical at 200MB after encoding using AutoGK with Xvid. Burned with Nero using DVD-ROM UDF mode (I've found that ISO mode--at least with Nero's default settings--was hit or miss, sometimes creating burns where good Xvid files generated a "?" on the DVP's menu instead of the MP4 icon).
Anyway, each spins up on the DVP642, each has the common color initial blurring problem that Xvid files often have on this player (fixed by simply toggling back and forth with the System Menu button), but two of them (episodes 6 and 9 in this case) have the red/blue inversion. Curiously, as one user noted, the problem goes away when you zoom. The other 20 are consistent and of very good quality. A similar project with 22 episodes each at 199MB didn't have the problem.
I tried one user's advice to switch between NTSC and Multi in the Video setup, but that didn't work. Also, not my media since I've tried several. The files in question play flawlessly on my PC, of course.
I have the player connected via s-video. Is there a true fix for this? Also, why would AutoGK seem to randomly spit out a couple of files which are seemingly different from the others in the batch? Thanks.

I have around 50 different DivX files, with different parameters (pixel size, DivX version, bitrate, sound codec etc.). Out of 50, I have only 3 which have serious problems on my DVP642/37 (v. 0531): one doesn't play at all, two others have inversed colors. The only common parameter for these 3 files is the vertical size of 416 pixels; none of the remaining 47 good files has this size. I have both smaller, and larger (up to 480 pix) vertical sizes in my collection. It's possible that there's a bug in the player which is active when the vertical size is 416 pix. At some point I have to run tests by creating lots of small DivX files with different sizes an playing them on my player.
Has anyone else observed the same thing? -
i have had numerous play with the red blue inversion, and have tested both methods to solve, and both have worked flawlessy so far, have yet to run into 1 file it didnt work on......hopefully i wont either.

Vladius13, do you mean by both methods that either the system menu toggling or NTSC/Multi toggling always works for your red/blue switched files? I've got the latest firmware and would like to think those techniques would work, but they sure as heck don't for me.

It's definitely something to do with the resolution. I had a video that was 512x408. It looked great on the computer, but everyone was blue on the Philips. I used virtualdub and did a full processing and tried it again. Same problem. I then changed the resolution with virtualdub to 512x384 and it worked great on the philips.
