Ditto. Except the "most of". I'd replace that with "all"

OK. I prefer DVD-Info Pro...
I'd suggest that Nero doing what it does best (burning) is fine, but let's not turn this into a "I hate Nero" thread, lads

I get mixed feedback from DVD Info Pro. I use CD/DVD Speed for read speed tests because DVD Info Pro just doesn't give me consistent results, but I use DVD Info Pro for read tests because CD/DVD Speed doesn't seem to do it as well. NEC2500A drive. Odd, but I'm happy with the combo.

I don't hate Nero. In fact, I use it for burning all the time. When using Nero for other jobs such as making (S)VCD/DVD, it has at times, an annoying habit of re-encoding everything if it feels that it is not up to the mark. However you might have used a much better program such as TMPGEnc with your own settings for noise reduction, etc. and Nero may not like the format.
Also when making a VCD, Nero cannot make chapters (entry points) like VCDEasy. Ahead Software is bundling the 'Nero Burning ROM' with a lot of other utilities and that makes the s/w bundle expensive. This is what I don't like.*** My computer can beat me at chess, but is no match when it comes to kick-boxing. *** -
My OEM suite includes the SVCD/DVD plugin, if I remember correctly, (also the package says the same) anyway for one thing I'm right with the other users, the MPEG-2 encoding of Nero is really bad, it's better to use TMPGEnc.

Thanks for all your reply's.............
O.k. I'll leave nero for strictly burning
My reason for asking about this plugin leads back to a previous thread about my ATI tvwonder card. I can't figure out how to record live tv programs and then burn to disk for playback on my home DVD Player. -
Mikey67, you really need to start with the basics. As suggested in the other thread, check out www.digitalfaq.com for ATI info.
author the compatible DVD file and burn it.If you plan to burn to DVD you need an encoder and authoring software. TMPGEnc encoder and TMPGEnc DVD Author are popular. There are trial versions of both in 'Tools'.
Other than that, read the guides to the left, all the information you need is there. Look at 'What is DVD' and that will tell you about the format you need.
You can capture to AVI and use an encoder or capture directly to MPEG-2 if your computer and card is capable. In that case you only need to -
i downloade the dvd video plugin from here

Thanks........
I finally figured out how to burn an ATI tvwonder recorded tv program to disk,
Now my next question, reducing the size of an ATI tvwonder recorded proram
One program I recorded is 5.59 GB... ofcourse, it will not fit on a standard 4.7 GB DVD
Is there a program that will reduce the size of recorded program without loosing quality?
Thanks........ -
Several routes are available. The first is to edit the size down to 4.37Gb by cutting out parts. Second, re-encode the whole thing. That will take some time. The next is easier. If you go ahead and author the video, you can use DVDshrink to reduce the size. There is no way that you can reduce the size without some loss of quality. But Shrink can get the size to DVD specifications without too much damage to the quality if you are a little over and don't want to re-encode. Really the best way, however difficult, is to get it the right size in the first place.
I am assuming you have a video file that is already DVD compliant and ready to burn to DVD with the only problem being the size.
If you are using MPEG-1 Layer2 audio, you can convert to AC3 and save a lot of room, maybe enough to get it to 4.37Gb.
I'm sure there are other ways, that's just what comes to mind. -
Well, to get the right size at the first encoding aren't there many bitrate calculator? Why you shouldn't use them when you encode your movies? It's stupid to shrink a DVD 'cause it is too big.
