  1. It doesn't need to sound like anyone or anything particular.

    I'm just looking to do some kind of simple alteration (that can be done with most audio editing software) to make a voice unrecognizeble, but still understandable.

    Any help/pointers/suggestions/etc. is appreciated.

    Most software allows pitch-shifting - you can raise or lower the pitch without affecting the length of the clip.

  3. There's also filters such as "mechanize" or something like that which gives it a sort of robotic sound. Then overusing a noise reduction filter will give it a wierd unrecognizable effeect as well. Kind of reminds me of that effect in the Cher song (which has subsequently been overused in other music recordings).
